Galaxy Note 7 undergoes knife and hammer test from YouTuber
If you feel really queasy on seeing a brand new smartphones be repeatedly hit by a hammer and scratched by a knife, better turn away now.YouTube channel TechRax has conducted a test once again, this time on the newly released Samsung Galaxy Note 7, which boasts that it is the first smartphone to carry the Gorilla Glass 5, supposedly the strongest among its predecessors. So did the new phablet from the Korean OEM survive this brutal test and prove that it is indeed that durable?Well, yes and no.

Seriously, don't drop your Galaxy Note 7

Seriously, don't drop your Galaxy Note 7
There's nothing worse than the seemingly frozen moment after you've dropped your phone and have to gingerly pick it up off the floor, as you stare grimly at the face-down device and wonder whether or not your screen survived the landing this time. That Schrödinger-esque moment is apparently going to be even more harrowing for Galaxy Note 7 users, with Samsung announcing that it will cost $270 to replace a shattered display.Apparently, huge 5.7-inch seamless curved Gorilla Glass 5 screens don't come cheap.5.7-inch seamless curved Gorilla Glass 5 screens don't come cheapThis kind of cost isn't unheard of, with new screens for the similarly curved Galaxy S7 Edge also going for $270, but it's a hefty price to pay, especially when compared with Apple (where the most expensive iPhone screen, for the 6S Plus, goes for $150) or HTC's Uh Oh program which offers free broken screen repairs in the first year after buying.

Verizon's Galaxy Note 7 Another Example of Carriers Interfering for No Good Reason

Verizon's Galaxy Note 7 Another Example of Carriers Interfering for No Good Reason
Before I signed-off for the weekend, I took part in a bit of a tweetstorm about the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 from Verizon, as it just-so-happened to arrive on my doorstep during the DL Show. The tweetstorm's focus, in case you missed it, was about all of the unnecessary changes that Verizon had made to the phone that immediately pissed me off as I went about setting the phone up.I'm not talking about bloatware (though that is a part of it) as much as I'm talking about UI changes and feature removals for no good reason.Well, unless that reason is for Verizon to push an agenda or package of services I want absolutely no part of, then I get it.

Which is more durable, iPhone 6s or Galaxy Note 7?

Which is more durable, iPhone 6s or Galaxy Note 7?
Recently, several tests were conducted to compare the physical endurance of the newly launched Samsung Galaxy Note 7 against the iPhone 6s.Previously, PhoneBuff had conducted similar tests on the Galaxy 7 and iPhone 6s, which resulted in the Samsung product losing as it was easily broken after bring dropped from a height of 1 meter. So this new tests was probably to see whether the Note 7 would experience the same fate.Do note that Galaxy Note 7 is made with Gorilla Glass 5 that has better resistance than the S7.
