Strategy Analytics: Xiaomi Soars as universal phone Shipments chock 393 mn in Q3 2017

according to BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--According to the latest study from Strategy Analytics, universal phone shipments grew five % annually to reach 393 mn units in Q3 2017. Samsung maintained premier position with 21 % universal phone marketshare, while Apple held steady at twelve % share. Xiaomi was the star performer, nearly doubling its phone shipments from a year ago. Linda Sui, Director at Strategy Analytics, said, "Global phone shipments grew a solid five % annually from 374.9 mn units in Q3 2016 to 393.1 mn in Q3 2017. Xiaomi soared 91 % annually, taking 5th place with 27.7 mn shipments for a record seven % universal phone marketshare in Q3 2017, up from four % a year ago.
