As it stated in Domestic brands beat Apple again in China's smartphone market this year | In In With Chinese Characteristics | By By Bailey HuOn Tuesday, Umeng.com (友盟+) released a report on China's smartphone market that reveals Oppo and Vivo, along with Huawei and its sub-brand Honor, dominated the domestic field from January through August of this year. According to Umeng's chart of the top six smartphone brands, Oppo and Vivo were nearly head-to-head with 20.7% and 20.1% of the market, respectively. However, if Huawei and its ranking sub-brand Honor are combined, they beat out all other competitors with 22.6% of China's smartphone market. That gave it a boost in the competitiveness chart, where its 79.9 rating fell not far behind Vivo and Oppo. Not-so-surprisingly, phones and screens in the domestic market have continued to grow in size.


OnePlus beats Samsung, Apple to lead premium smartphone segment

OnePlus has held on to its top position in the premium smartphone segment in India by maintaining its lead over electronics giants Samsung and Apple. According to Hong Kong-based Counterpoint Research, the Chinese brand's flagship, the OnePlus 6 was the most-sold product in the premium segment in the third quarter of 2018. Launched in May 2018, the OnePlus 6 has been the best-selling smartphone for the company in India. Interestingly, this is the second consecutive time that OnePlus emerged as the leader in the premium smartphones segment, wherein devices are priced above Rs 30,000. "The premium smartphone segment in India is steadily growing, and OnePlus seeks to more effectively tap into this space, with a nifty strategy combining both online and offline platforms for a holistic reach," said Vikas Agarwal, General Manager, OnePlus India on the smartphone maker's decision to have offline presence.
