- According to a report from market research company Strategy Analytics, Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) gobbled up a whopping 91% of the $9.4 billion in operating profit that the smartphone industry generated during the third quarter of 2016."Apple's ability to maximize pricing and minimize production cost is hugely impressive, and the iPhone continues to generate monster profits," the press release read.Rounding out the top four most profitable smartphone vendors were Huawei in second place with a 2.4% operating profit share, and Vivo and OPPO tying for third place with 2.2% each.
