It's only getting betterAs it turns out, the 5G Moto Mod will make the Moto Z3 the inaugural phone once Verizon turns on its mobile 5G service. This would give Verizon an advantage as the first carrier to launch a 5G service with a smartphone. AT&T in December launched 5G mobile service, but customers in select cities can only tap into the network using Wi-Fi hotspots, and not smartphones. T-Mobile expects to have broader commercial service available early this year, while Sprint and LG have promised the first 5G smartphone.

Global smartphone sales fell for the first time ever in 2018. This year may be better

New Delhi (CNN Business) The global market for smartphones is shrinking, and two of its biggest players are hurting badly. That's the first annual decline for the smartphone market ever. The main drag has come from the world's biggest smartphone market, China, where sales have been falling for almost two years. "Those markets will continue to grow, to push up the global smartphone market size," said Mo Jia, an analyst at Canalys, adding that the global market will likely return to "very slim growth in 2019." Huawei and other Chinese smartphone makers have seen impressive growth in recent months.

Judging by the press renders, however, it doesn't look like it's running MIUI, and it doesn't look to be stock Android like their Android One phones either. We could be seeing a lighter shade of MIUI, stock Android with small customizations, or an entirely new skin made exclusively for Android Go phones.
