Please refresh this page in your browser to reload this live event videoThe Live Event you are trying to watch is either unavailable or has not started Please refresh this page in your browser to reload this live event videoAmazon has announced that its smart speaker system, known as Amazon Echo , will go on sale in the UK tomorrow, September 28.The Echo, which has been available in the US since June 2015 , is a 23.5 cm tall cylindrical speaker - similar in appearance to the UE Megaboom - with a seven-piece microphone array.It is integrated with a virtual personal assistant called Alexa, (Amazon's version of Apple's Siri ), which connects to your home WiFi network and responds to voice commands.The device is capable of playing music and audiobooks, streaming podcasts, answering questions, making to-do lists, setting alarms and providing weather, traffic and other real-time information.

D-link has announced that its D-Link Home Smart Plug now supports the Amazon Echo and Echo Dot devices.The Amazon Echo and Echo Dot can be used to turn on and off devices connected to the D-Link Home Smart Plug using voice commands."Integrating our Smart Home products with Amazon's Echo voice control systems is another step in our vision of building an intuitive and customisable Smart Home experience," commented Paul Routledge, D-Link UK and Ireland Country Manager."D-Link is helping users find new and fun ways to interact with their homes by expanding the possibilities of home automation and collaborating with additional technology platforms."In addition to working with Amazon Alexa via Echo and Echo Dot, the mydlink Home Smart Plug can be used via the mydlink Home app to interact with other mydlink Home devices, and with IFTTT (If This Then That) to create automation processes and device interactions with hundreds of other applications and devices.

Amazon's hotly anticipated voice recognition device, Amazon Echo, is available in the UK from tomorrow.The smart speaker system promises to turn any property into the home of the future – connecting users via their voice to everything from ordering a taxi or a takeaway to controlling the lighting and music.Amazon Echo, which has been available in the US since last year, uses the Alexa voice service – the company's answer to Apple's Siri.And, just for good measure, Apple and fellow tech giant Google are thought to be working on systems of their own to rival the Echo.
